Is there an ISZL campus in Lucerne?
No. Despite its name, the International School of Zug and Luzern teaches on two campuses in canton Zug: Baar (Walterswil 1) from Early Years to Grade 8 and Hünenberg (Rothusstrasse 4B) for Grades 9 to 12. Luzern to Baar is 26 minutes by direct train, and ISZL runs its own school buses within a set service area, so ask whether your Lucerne address is covered. Tuition 2026–27 runs from CHF 33,200 a year in Grades 1–5 to CHF 39,700 in Grades 11–12. Public school in Lucerne is free and in German, with up to a year of intensive beginners’ German in small groups for children who need it.

Where do I register when I move to Lucerne from abroad?
In the city of Lucerne, at the Einwohnerdienste, Obergrundstrasse 1, in person at the counter, within 14 days of arrival; online registration only works for moves within Switzerland. The fee is CHF 40. Bring your passport or ID card, the lease, a copy of your employment contract, which the office forwards to the cantonal Amt für Migration, and family documents if your family comes with you. Health insurance cannot be shown yet; you have three months to take it out. The 14-day rule is cantonal law, so it applies in Kriens, Horw or Meggen too, at each commune’s own office.
